W Sensor evaluates a state of the connected falls sensor. It keeps the sensor at the desired temperature level and ensures its correct behavior in every weather condition. The heating of the sensor allows using sensor to detect snowfalls in winter; it also speeds up the reaction to a break of rainfalls in summer.

Diagnostic tools provide a possibility to control the proper functioning of sensor:

  • Heating failure test
  • EMI influence
  • Short circuit
  • Cabling disconnectioni

Basic states are displayed by LED diodes right on the module case (communication, falls, heating, failure). The signalling of falls state is possible by the output relay contact or by RS485 line with MODBUS protocol. Module can work in basic mode with relay output only or in the mode with RS485 connection, which provides indications of all possible states..

Delay of sensor reaction to first snowflake drop: 60-90 seconds
Delay of sensor reaction to the end of falls: 1-25 minutes
Lowest temperature for snowfalls detection: -20°C

In FARCOM system is the W SENSOR module usually put on the subsidiary RS485 line, which is mastered by a MPM-R. There can be connected up to 2 W SENSOR modules to one MPM-R module. First W-SENSOR is used as a falls sensor. Second is used as a snow drift sensor.
