Multipurpose module MPM

MPM is a multi purpose module designed for automated controlling and monitoring. It is also used for general communication tasks at RS485 and RS232 lines.

Modules with different software modifications interfere with several types of sensors and communicate with subordinate systems. MPM can be also fully configured by a user of a notebook, equipped with designated software and RS232 serial line or Ethernet.

MPM autonomously runs battery backed real time clock with day-light saving time calendar. MPM is equipped with 10 Base-T Ethernet, three ports EIA/TIA 485 and three ports EIA/TIA 232. Communication ports can be divided in two groups. Ports communicating with superiority systems (eg. surveillance remote computer) and ports communicating with subordinate modules (eg. farcom 8DI8DO modules). There are 19200/9600 baudrates designated for master systems and 9600/4800 bps for connection of slave systems. The supported communication protocol is MODBUS ASCII. MPM also contains 2 digital inputs and 2 digital outputs
plná velikosti MPM is fully independent of the supervisory communication. There is also a possibility to use the device in locations where there is no supervisory system. In this situation is the module configured by the tester or by a portable computer.

There are following modifications of the multipurpose module :

  • MPM-R (Railheat) - switch point heating control
  • MPM-L (Light) - lights control
  • MPM-H (Heat) - building heating control
  • MPM-S (Switch) - special communication purposes

MPM-R

MPM-R evaluates digital temperature sensors, rainfall sensors and snowdrift sensors. According to this information it controls the heating of rail switch points. It contains separate controlling algorithms for switch rod and switch point heating.

MPM-L

The purpose of MPM-L is to control lights and lightings. It evaluates information from

  • sun relay
  • astronomical calendar with sunrise and sunset times
  • special calendar of the Czech Railway
  • time schedule
  • external inputs (e.g. information about an aproaching train )

It is possible to configure several regimes and combinations of mentioned features.

MPM-H

MPM-H controls electrical heating of buildings according to information from indoor and outdoor temperatures sensors, thermostats and according to schedule set.

Some implemented functions:

  • Heating limitation by external temperature - heating will be stopped, when outdoor temperature reaches set limit.
  • Stop of heating in high-price tariff 
  • Local control - allows users to change desired temperature be means of local controlling equipment - terminal
  • Local control restriction -an administrator of the module could restrict previous module function

  • 16 heating outputs
  • 4 8DI/8DO modules
  • 6 CVS-E modules
  • 16 temperature modules (it is possible to share temperatures modules among several controlled circuits)

MPM-S

MPM-S is used in applications, where it is necessary to solve several communication tasks (e.g. retranslation, forks and branches of communication lines)
